Assassins Creed Movie Sun, 10 Aug 2014 00:00:00 GMT Latest News HollettGaming New Regency and Ubisoft are producing the video game adaptation to the big screen.

Actor Michael Fassbender will head up the movie with the director Justin Kurzel.

20th Century Fox is said to want the film to go before cameras soon, though there have also been reports of that Fassbender left the project, but he said that they are not true and that the writers are still working on the script.

The release has been delayed until August 2015, so it's a way off yet!

"There's so much cool stuff in the game that we're actually spoiled for choice in terms of what we can use and what we can't, but we also want to bring new elements to it and perhaps our own version of things that already exist in the game," Fassbender told IGN in an interview. "But we're definitely making a feature film, and we're approaching it as a feature film, as opposed to approaching it as a video game."

Keep an eye out for more on this later in the year.

Halo 5 - Guardians release date announced Mon, 19 May 2014 00:00:00 GMT Latest News HollettGaming Halo 5 - guardians has had a release date announced. There's not much more than that though! The date has been given as 'fall' of 2015, but will we really see it then? With only about a year before the pending date and nothing more than a cover picture, it begs the question of why announce so little? Is this just a way of Microsoft trying to keep interest in the console? With sales of the playstation beating Xbox one outright, maybe this tactic will delay a few more people going to buy the Sony console. Who knows, but our guess is it will get delayed to at least nearer Christmas, call us pessimistic :-)

Halo film: Halo 4 - Forward Unto Dawn Thu, 1 May 2014 00:00:00 GMT Latest News HollettGaming Finally got around to watching the Halo film: Halo 4 - Forward Unto Dawn

While the story line follows a young cadet through his troubles of becoming a man, the movie itself shows some great effects and stays true to the Halo series.

This is a great film for Halo fans, not such a great film as a standalone though.

You get a bit of a blast of action at the start, but then you get into the middle section where not much happens appart from character building.

The character building part you get the feeling they are trying a little too hard on making it a believable story, non the less it does get you to know the characters and sets the scene for the end of film climax.

The effects on this film are really great, they make you feel you are in the game world, yet still watching a blockbluster title. There's an interesting twist right at the end that leaves an open end for follow episodes.

While the film may not be that interesting to the general public, what a great film it is for those Halo fans!

I wont spoil the plot for those interested in watching it, it's certainly worth a couple of bucks from your local video supplier in the bargain section, or available in Netflix or similar.

Advised for Halos fans, avoid if not!

Watch Dogs - Release Date Tue, 18 Mar 2014 00:00:00 GMT Latest News HollettGaming Ubisoft have announced the new release date of the anticipated Watch Dogs game.

They released a series of humoured images of the main character 'hacking' the release date onto machines around the Ubi offices.

The problem is, they have already delayed the release before and in a crafty fashion have added a little * next to the release date just to be on the safe side I guess (check the image we posted).

So the date looks to be: 27 May 2014

While we wait to see if this date transpires, here's a gameplay video:

Fightback Free iOS game Sat, 28 Dec 2013 00:00:00 GMT Latest News HollettGaming Fightback has been released for iOS, taking us back to the 90s side scrolling beat em up days, with a modern twist.

The basics of this game are quite simple, beat you way through the streets or as it is in this game, floors of tower blocks.
And the story line is the same format as those old arcade games, fight to get to a big boss who is holding someone kidnap.
Ok so nothing new here, but this works especially well on the modern touch screens we have in our pockets these days.

The controls are simple, a little repetitive in a way but great fun all the same. Its great to see how well the swipe and tap controls have bee utilised for this genre, with gestures providing the ability to perform certain moves.

Its also great to see the engine used is the Unity development platform. This is a great showing of what Unity can do.
Ragdoll effects on your enemeys once killed is great to watch, especially when you catch them with a powerful flying kick.

Slowmotion effects also make an appearance when performing evades, or when using a gun to select and shoot targets.

The developers have also been kind with the free to play, pay to progress format of the latest big games.
Its easy enough to earn credits and gold bars and the time to wait for your stamina to replenish so you can continue playing is quite short, only if you are really impatient do you need to spend any real money...
That being said, some of the high end equipment and upgrades would take an age to earn without spending any money, but these are not essential to complete the game.
Power ups and upgrades are god fun and there is a never ending street mode you can play to try get though as many streets as possible should you get bored of story mode.

The verdict:
Well put together game, easy but rewarding gameplay and controls, fun and long lasting.

Download for free now:
Fightback on the App Store

Easy to learn, fun to use controls, very satisfying beat em up.

Great use of Unitys graphics for mobile devices, not the best ever but pretty

Will keep you going for a long while, though controls and format can be a little boring after a while.

Hollettgaming Overall Rating:

Great free iOs game, get it if you love beat em ups.

Old Classic Flashback Gets Uprated Sun, 17 Nov 2013 00:00:00 GMT Latest News HollettGaming A blast from the past!

One of our all time favourite games gets a revamp, here's the lowdown:

20 years after the original game’s launch, Conrad is enlisted back to active service for the triumphant return of one of the most acclaimed franchises in gaming history.

It's not a reboot. It's Flashback re-imagined. The original Core-Team revamped their own creation, leveraging the best of today’s technology while remaining true to the classic side-scroller that set the standards of the genre in the 90's.

 • One of the best adventure-action games ever created re-imagined by its creators. It’s the same team. It’s the same passion. Only this time, they have had much more firepower at their disposal to recreate the legendary classic!
 • Gorgeous graphics, amazing animations. It’s the Flashback you’ve always dreamed of. True to the original spirit but made a million times better by using modern engines such as Unreal and Havok. The makeover is completely stunning.
 • It’s all about Gameplay. The team modernized gameplay mechanics, making the game more reactive, offering new features, like gadgets and an experience progression system. But the developers kept the original formula in mind: a fine balance between rolling and shooting, exploring remote space stations and obliterating hostile alien planets.
 • Bringing back new memories. The story was revamped to speak to 21st century gamers. Most of the cast of the original game is still here – Conrad, the Morphs – but you can expect new characters and a few twists you’re definitely not going to forget… this time.
Space Hulk - Game review Sun, 20 Oct 2013 00:00:00 GMT Latest News HollettGaming Space Hulk is finally here for the PC and Mac. This is long awaited title by fans of the original strategy boardgame, where players move Space Marines through a maze of dark corridors on various missions, with the presence of some bad ass aliens hunting you down.

The developers certainly have kept this true to the original boardgame thats for sure. All the rules are there which will keep the hard core fans happy. On minor detail lacking is of any actual dice shown rolling on screen but it does show the results in a mini panel in numeric form. Its all a bit quick on the dice results front though, would have been good to show the roll more visually.

However having said that, it doesnt deflect how well the developers have re-created the tense thrill of the game. With dark, narrow corridors, multiple ways you should be looking and planning for that ambush from the Genestealers, as well as the mission at hand to complete.

Another nice little touch is the mini cam, mounted on the marines helmet allowing you to see what the selected marine sees.
Graphics are ok, but not the best out there, however its not really a game about graphics, its about strategy.

The story line and missions give you a great sense of the tense thriller that the original board game used to provide too, though this is where it starts to go a bit down hill.

The missions often seem a bit repetitive, even if the actual mission differs vastly from the last, since its the same sort of format:
Move your marines down some corridor, plan which areas to block off to avoid death by Genestealer, move other units to mission location. Repeat... repeat again, start getting bored.

To help with this, the developers do seem to have tried to throw in new unit types as you move along the missions, thought its just not enough to give this much more life span than a hand full of missions provides.
There is then the multiplayer option which is where the real fun is to be had since this is how it used to be played with you and your friend taking turns to play the Genestealers.

The other problem is the controls are a little awkward, you can often click incorrectly resulting in placing you marine where you didn't mean too, wasting valuable moves.
The game play is also a bit a slow, marines move too slow, though it is representing the big bulky Terminator Marines but still for the player this is a little sluggish waiting for marines to move and turn.

The verdict:
True to original but with clunky controls and repetitive gameplay.

Poor controls, slow movement but good strategy game overall.

Not revolutionary by any means, but great models of the marines and the space hulk.

Not great, very repetitive.

Hollettgaming Overall Rating:

True to original but with clunky controls and repetitive gameplay.

Real Racing 3 - Free game review Tue, 23 Apr 2013 00:00:00 GMT Latest News HollettGaming Being keen racing game fans at HollettGaming, we got our free download of Real Racing 3 to see what all the fuss is about. We were not disapointed, Real Racing 3 is truley outstanding for an iPhone game.

Firstly you are taken by the sheer quality of the graphics, far exceeding our expectations.
Secondly, the game features an array of real life cars and tracks such as Laguna Seca and Silverstone.
Pushing on thorugh the slick menus to the actual racing and it just gets better. There are various race types, including full 22 car grids to battle your way through.
The controls are also totally easy to use, with the ability to swicth between on screen controls or tilt to turn. We found more acuracy in the on screen controls just because your not following your device around the room as you blast through the corners

The crash dynamics are great too, but the actual damage shown on the car is a little linier, but you can't expect real time crash dynamics on such a game.
Following your dumps and scratches you will need to make a few repairs, which is where the car managment and modifications also come in.
This takes the best bits from games of the past like Grand Turismo, with a massive selection of events and special featured races making it a very long lasting game, again reminisant of Grand Turismo.

Is it really free I hear you ask? Well yes it really is, you can buy more credits if you want to buys cars and modifications straight away but you really dont need to.
Another great feature is the Time Shifted Multiplayer. This is actually quite a clever concept, you play today and your time is saved, other players can then race your AI counterpart in thier game on another day.
Though the AI version of you wont exactly match the path and braking and so on, it will keep as closer time to yours as possible.

So what are the downsides?
There are only really a few of these, such as a couple of updates to the game have cuased a few glitches to the menus
The AI on the odd occasion can push you off the track or cause you a massive spin out.
Due to the amazing graphics, the iphone can suffer some frame rate issues especially on the 22 grid races in places like Melbourne where there are a lot of barriers and buildings around.

The verdict: You have to get this game if you love racing games or Gran Turismo, outstanding 5 star game no question.

Slick controls, great handling, excellent racing.

A little too good at times, pushes the iphone a little past its limits.

Over a thousand races, special events and new ones added in updates.

Hollettgaming Overall Rating:

You have to get this game if you love racing games or Gran Turismo, outstanding 5 star game no question.
Grand Theft Auto V Is Coming but when Tue, 5 Feb 2013 00:00:00 GMT Latest News HollettGaming Well, Rockstar have had to delay the release of GTAV for a few more months. But why?

Here's the word from Rockstar:

"Dear all,

Today, we have an official release date to share with you: Grand Theft Auto V will arrive in stores on September 17, 2013.
We know this is about four months later than originally planned and we know that this short delay will come as a disappointment to many of you, but, trust us, it will be worth the extra time. GTAV is a massively ambitious and complex game and it simply needs a little more polish to be of the standard we and, more importantly, you require.
To all Grand Theft Auto fans, please accept our apologies for the delay, and our promise that the entire team here is working very hard to make the game all it can be. We are doing all we can to help ensure it will meet if not exceed your expectations come September – we thank you for your support and patience.
The GTA Team"
This seems to have also caused many rumours about why which isn't helping the situation for the fans.
Rockstar have made a statement in regards to all the comments:
"Hey all, we understand many of you guys are disappointed with this news – unfortunately sometimes such delays are necessary in all forms of entertainment, and especially in the case of a game experience as massive and complex as GTAV. However this does not give you free reign to be abusive in comments. The general rules of common courtesy, decency and behavior as listed above the Comment Box still apply here, therefore anyone continuing to post abusive comments will have their privileges suspended.

To those of you saying or seeing various conspiracy theories about there being some other ulterior motive for this delay, rest assured that they’re all nonsense – literally the only reason we’ve delayed the release is because we want the game to be as good as it needs to be.

For those of you asking about the official box art, that will be coming out a bit later as well.

Thank you all for understanding."

So lets wait until September and hope this is as good as the hype. The trouble is, the extra wait might mean more hype than they can deliver?

We are so happy about this (as must be millions of other users around the world) that even though we normally post news on all things game related, we felt we had to share this with the world.

So what's all the fuss about I hear you ask?
Well, ever since Apple decided to replace the existing Google maps with its own 'unique' map app, the world has been driven mad by its lack of usability and bad design.

Its even gone to the extent of people getting badly lost, airports where farms should be and whole towns missing. Not to mention the lack of functionality, or more that what you used to have with Google was suddenly gone after the iOS 6 update.

We had been pretty worried when the Google app disappeared and the fact Apple had their own replacement meant we though it was never to return again.

But in recent weeks, Apple admitted its failure on this bad app, saying they "screwed up". Its interesting then after such a short time of the apology and admittance of a screwed up maps app, they approve the Google Map app.
So with that all said and done, whats in it for me with Google Maps?

Think about how good the original Google Maps was and how great it would be to have it back...
Remember how easy it was to use...
How much rich information was available at the tap of the screen...

Then think of an app that could be even better than that, and yes your right, thats what its like now!!

Ok, so we are yet to test if we get lost in the middle of the jungle, or end up falling off a bridge, but initial review is of love of this app.

We wont go on about this any further, here's the link you have been waiting for, go get it now:]]>
Euro Truck Simulator 2 screens and review Sat, 8 Dec 2012 00:00:00 GMT Latest News HollettGaming
Euro Truck Simulator 2 has hit stores this quarter, so we got our hands on it being lovers of truck sims like King of the Road and Rig n Roll.

Our first impressions were of amazement, due to the stunning visuals of the game. Taking our first drive out we immediately became aware of the additional elements added to your surroundings, giving you a sense of belief you are there driving a real truck.

Being a simulator, there is a bit of a learning curve on the speed and turning abilities of the trucks, but we have to say this is quite a satisfying feeling. It's nothing like an arcade racing game don't forget, so you have things like engine breaks, mountains of gears to get through and you can't forget about the sheer weight of your cargo.
It doesnt stop there either, the level of detail on the weather effects and also when the night takes hold is outstanding, cars making risky over taking moves if your going to slow and people getting angry when you leave your high beam on.

As for the trucks themselves, there are some licensed trucks such as Renault, with other replica makes pretending to the real thing. The other vehicles on the road are also equally well modelled, you dont need to be a genius to work out what make they really are so this doesnt really take anything away from the game. There are many varied cargo to haul, from fruit and veg to oversized machinery, each very authentically detailed.

The map is also rather vast, with destinations such as London, Amsterdam, Lille and so on, you get a real sense of being in the country with the scenery and surroundings to go with it.
You will see some of your favourite euro towns with great scenery like the Humber bridge in Hull, or the windmills in Holland.

Like many other truck sims, you start out as a driver with little money and big ambitions. You will only get jobs you have licences for and can only take on jobs to neighbouring areas.
As you spread your wings and discover more of Europe, your possibilities and XP earned can help unlock new cargo and rewards, as well as finding enough challenging environments and tight situations to keep you interested along the way.

This game really picks up on the first Euro truck and thrusts it into a new level of truck sim. We have to say, as a simulator, this beats Rig N Roll, and even our all time favourite King of the Road.
If your truck lover, you need to get your hands on this.

Really realistic in terms of a truck sim, though a star short of top since for some players this may be a bit too slow paced.

Some of the best visuals your going to get in a truck game, excellent country characteristics.

If you want get your own truck and build up a company, you could be playing for months!

Hollettgaming Overall Rating:

Beats any truck sim out there, though may not be for everyone.

Carmageddon Classic Hits iPhone and iPad Mon, 22 Oct 2012 00:00:00 GMT Latest News HollettGaming

Without doubt one of the greatest games to hit the gaming scene in the 90's, but not only that, was on the receiving end of unwanted attention in the form of controversy. The controversy surrounded the game's central premise; that of earning reward for running down innocent pedestrians.

The game was notable for its realistic and ground-breaking physics, and for its in-game action replay features. It was also one of the earliest examples of a sandbox 3D driving game.

But the controversy ended up meaning being censored and even banned in many countries around the world.

Never fear! Since there have been many a game since with much much worse, the game makers Stainless Software have re-packaged this retro masterpiece for the iOS, working on iPhone, iPad and iTouch.

The port is extremely good, with all the fun and gore of the original, but with the needed touch and tilt based controls and UI added.
This is an outstanding port, well worth a download if you want to take yourself back to the 90's.

Ok, so the fact it's a 90's port means it isn't going to have the most amazing graphics, but they have taken a bit of time to get in some little improvements such as action reply functionality, all the better to watch you mow down the moo cows!
One more thing, it is currently free for a limited time only. Get it now while you can: Carmageddon on the App Store

The port is extremely good, with all the fun and gore of the original.

Ok, so the fact it's a 90's port means it isn't going to have the most amazing graphics.

Lasts as long as the original and plenty of open play to keep you amused.

Resident Evil 6 hits stores Tuesday Fri, 28 Sep 2012 00:00:00 GMT Latest News HollettGaming Pro Evolution Soccer 2013 Review Thu, 27 Sep 2012 00:00:00 GMT Latest News HollettGaming
So it's here at last, the football game PES fans have been eagerly awaiting. And what is in store for us?

On first load of the game, it pretty much looks like everything is just a re-skin of 2012.
The menus and icons are all pretty much the same, entering the game not much changes either with a feel of "they have just re-branded it" coming to mind.

Then however, all changes once the whistle blows...
From the off you sense the improved accuracy of the players movements and passing, long gone is the feeling of "I never asked it to pass there!".
If that's still not quite 'exactly' where you wanted the ball, there is the all new 'manual' mode of passing.
Holding down the left trigger reveals an arrow in the direction of the pass, moving the stick points, and hit the pass button... Precision passing at your finger tips, only not so precision if your under pressure...

The manual mode is extended to any type of play, passing, crossing or even shooting.
If you are in enough space an feeling brave, use manual mode to blast a shot right where you want it.

What else has changed? Well for a start, the gameplay and players speed has been pegged down a notch, actually having a massive effect on making the game feel more fluid.
Combined with this, the player off the ball movement is much more intelligent without doubt the best yet. It takes the game to whole new level, watching your back four track the opposition offense and players trying to make a move to break them up, outstanding AI improvements here.
It’s not just off the ball either, on the ball movement is improved, again with the slight speed reduction, the players tricks and flicks are more pleasurable to watch.
Other subtle adds such as your team mates getting a bit upset when you miss a play and other player motion tweaks see some extra edge added, sadly though, pretty much the same old repetitive commentary voice overs to remind you it still is only a game and not the real thing!
So to sum up, in all a great improvement on the 2012 version, greater control giving a much more realistic and fluid football experience, if you haven’t got it yet, what are you waiting for?

Outstandingly realistic, fluid football.

Great realism in characters, but still a little something missing.

Like all previous versions, this will keep you entertained until the next release!

Hollettgaming Overall Rating:

Vast improvement on 2012, more fluid gameplay.
Blood and Glory 2 review Sat, 22 Sep 2012 00:00:00 GMT Latest News HollettGaming

Blood & Glory returns with a vengeance in the second version, named Legend.

Follow the story of your gladiator as he looks to take down the evil emperor, with some added Comics through the game to add to the effect.

This new version sees a new 3d map rather than the old simple interface of the original.

There is also an introduction of end of a tournament Boss.

With in game improvements too such as counter attacks and special moves.

The really great thing here is it is free but really free, no need to spend cash on upgrades.
If you want to speed up progress then heck spend some money. But to be fair there is no need and the game will last much longer.

Amulets help build up your chances, depending on which one is used you can earn extra cash, xp or power ups which can help push you through to the next level.

This is another outstanding release from Glu games, get yourself to the App Store and pick this up for iPhone and iPad for free now!

Great hack and slash gameplay.

We can't fault the graphics, outstanding.

This is going to be on your phone for some time!

We don't give out many fives, but this is worth it.
Onlive iPhone release update Tue, 11 Sep 2012 00:00:00 GMT Latest News HollettGaming

So we have all been waiting since December last year when onlive announced the iPhone version was on its way.

When we spoke to onlive about it earlier in the year, they advised it was still awaiting approval from apple.

So what's the latest? Well looks like this may never happen, onlive are repeated to have commented:

Its not much of a surprise that Apple might have issues with the OnLive app, as its offering a complete platform that Apple doesnt have control over, promotes a gamepad, and provides content purchased outside of the App store ecosystem. So, heres to keeping our fingers crossed to OnLive and Apple coming to some sort of middle ground to get the app out.

in light if the time it is taking apple to approve this, I doubt your going to see this hit the app store selves anytime soon. ]]>
Offroad Legends Review Sat, 8 Sep 2012 00:00:00 GMT Latest News HollettGaming
We came across the iPhone game Offroad Legends just recently.

What amazed us was the realistic physics engine the creators have managed to build in. With a love for making games ourselves, we are quite impressed with the end result.

At first look, the crisp 3d graphics on this app are amazing, a lot of work has gone into these.

More over, the use of the iPhones retina display and CPU have been pushed to great limits. This is noticed when you feel the phone get quite unusually hot!

But the reason is quite clear, the graphics, scenery and objects all working together with the physics are really spectacular.

The warmup version which is free has a great selection of vehicles and a good few levels to keep you entertained, but you may end up needing more! That's where the full version comes in to it's own. There is a large selection of vehicles and 56 levels to work your way through.

Each level offers 3 stars, depending on how well you do. There are many time trials, finish fast to get all the stars. Other levels have cargo to transport, drop any and you will loose stars. Bored of star collection? There is always the achievements to earn, or even tune your vehicles by messing with the suspension and wheels!

The physics of the vehicles is the main attraction for us, each level and vehicles needing careful planning to pass without breaking down. Land too hard and you are running the risk of loosing wheels, an awkward angled landing can also bend your axles causing a lose of traction not to mention making for an uncomfortable ride!

In summary then, get the free version to try out these great physics, some of the best we have seen in an iPhone app, no brainier. And if you like it as much as we did, you can upgrade! .

Excellent physics, crash dynamics and vehicle control. Later levels a little too arcade like for us.

Pushing the iphone to it's limits.

Lots of vehicles and many levels to keep you going for good amount of time.

Hollettgaming Overall Rating:

Outstanding physics engine, see it for yourself.
Total War Battles - Shogun for iPhone and Android Sun, 10 Jun 2012 00:00:00 GMT Latest News HollettGaming Total War Battles - Shogun for iPhone and Android

The latest version of Creative Assembly's Total War series, hits the iphone, ipad and Android platforms.
This version is specifically designed for the mobile and touch screen devices, really homing in on the abilities of each device and providing an in-depth experience for users.

Choosing the 'Unity' development platform, they were able to go direct to creating the game instead of worrying about how to make a multi-platform codebase.
Unity is a feature rich, fully integrated development engine for the creation of interactive 3D content.
It provides complete, out-of-the-box functionality to assemble high-quality, high-performing content and publish to multiple platforms.
You can even export for the major browsers, iOS, Android, Desktop PC, Wii, PS3 and the Xbox 360.

Great Mobile app, a must have for Total War fans.
Cant Wait For GTA 5 Sat, 26 May 2012 00:00:00 GMT Latest News HollettGaming Well, now that Max Payne 3 is out, the next big thing from Rockstar is going to be GTAV (Grand Theft Auto 5).
Can't wait that long, well there is life in GTAIV still.

We checked out a few mods for the PC version of GTA 4 and have to say the 'First Response' Police Mode is just the ticket.

All you need is the install package, run it and play as a cop in GTAIV.
It adds some scripts to enable you to pull over and interrogate road users as well as arrest them, issue a fine or just pass them off with a warning.

It's quite fun to add this to your game to keep you going until GTAV comes out later this year.

Alien Breed and the Evolution of Gaming Sun, 29 Apr 2012 00:00:00 GMT Latest News HollettGaming How the 'Evolution of gaming' has come along in 20 years!

Upon stumbling across one of my all time favourite game remakes, Alien Breed, I couldn't help but think of those great arcade years playing on the Amiga with my Dad.
There was nothing like a good two player top down 'shoot em up'.

Ok, so you had to wait for the game to load off the notoriously unreliable floppy disks, but boy was it worth the wait.

The way in which games has moved on over the years is astounding.
Taking Team17's Alien Breed as an example, you can see just how far things have come since the good old arcade days.

The formula for the game remains the same simple, yet highly addictive formula. Run around a space station in cramped conditions, trying to navigate a maze of rooms and corridors while fending off the invading Aliens.
However, what has changed dramatically is the graphics, effects and sheer depth.

Loading from a floppy waiting to read the opening credits still had a depth of excitement that a book or wooden toy couldn't quite match for me.
Physically seeing the story someone had envisaged and being part of the story by playing the character yourself was far more entertaining.
However, the latest games really have gone to a new level.

Looking at how the great 1992 special edition version of Alien Breed had the opening plot line, Team17 have stuck to those roots and built upon this in the latest re-make.
Just take a look at the videos below, one of the original and the other of the new re-make and see how far things have come in the last 20 years.

It's great to see this comparison since Team17 have kept the original so close to heart.
The intro is just another example, from a static image in the 90's to an almost film like cinematic.
Ok so it's not quite like a GTAV cut scene or a Forza Motorsport replay, but we using a direct comparison here.
The in game effects are even kept similar in may ways, the original bullets hitting the aliens showing some early 'special effects'. Now those are still there, just using new particle effects the latest graphics cards allow.
It doesn't stop there either, why use a generic death animation when you can use rag doll effects? GTAIV shows this off really well when driving into dustbins and pedestrians and seeing them tumble.
Then there's all the clever lighting effects making things glare and shine, shadow rendering and some pretty jaw dropping graphical marvels.

It's hard to say where things will go from here, you only have to look at the last few years of Wii, Playstation Move and now the simply mind blowing Xbox Kinect to start your mind wondering off on a tangent.
What about mixing the 2Pac hologram that appeared on stage along side Snoop Dog, with the Xbox Kinect? The mind boggles. ]]>
